It would take a much more liberal approach on their part.
They would have to do away with df.
Holidays OK.
No competitive FS.
National pride OK.
Must butt out of individuals' bizzyness.

Just one shred of evidence?
by nvrgnbk inis there just one shred of evidence that proves beyond any doubt that there is a being that is responsible for the existence of the universe and that it continues to have some effect on its inhabitants?
thanks for the inspiration, honesty.

I'm going to go along with Sweetface until further thought comes up to make me change my mind. Now, I'm going to go eat some delicious nutritious dirt.

Observations about dubs as people...
by Princess Daisy Boo ini was thinking back on some of the people i knew growing up, as well as my own family - many of whom are dubs... tell me what your own experiences are of these kind of people, did you notice a large prevalence of these types of people in the congs you attended:.
1. health nuts: into all sorts of alternative health theories like iridology, reflexology, homeopathy etc?
2. get rich quick folk: always getting involved in this scheme or that, this business or that - especially pyramid type things?.

There was a get rich quick pyramid scheme spreading all through the congregation, and a lot of them lost a lot of money. The scheme was presented in such a way by one brother to make you feel guilty and responsible for not joining that I guess most were taken in the same way as they were by the WTS.

PEOPLE IN YOUR CONGREAGATION WHO COULDN'T GET ALONG WITH OTHERS
by badboy inwere there anyone like that?

Add my mom to the list of cringe inducing people that no one was able to like because of personality quirks that were loud, visually and auditorily, before, during and after the meetings. She makes the audience and speakers jump when she sneezes.

Yes! Two elderly PI sisters snipped and bickered and yelled at each other in the khall parking lot after meetings for fs, in car groups, and everywhere else but the khall. It went before the elders with moi as one of the many witnesses. All the elder did was to have us all take turns reading from the United in Worship book about something. It was boring and didn't help at all. They shut up for a week but went right back to fighting. They were never removed.

Intelligent People on this Forum
by BenV insomeone had a thread about "smart people" in their congregations.
while i readily admit there were some "good," and "kind" jws in the congregation i grew up in.
and maybe it was the location -- my dad was asked to move there -- but for the most part it was an intellectual sahara.. yet i've noticed that on this forum there are some incredibly "smart" people.

The Mouthy is the wisest.
Mary and Blondie are two of the smartest. Their research citings are very good.
Flipper is the most phillanthropic and empathetic. He stays around for the express purpose of helping others get the hell out of Dodge.
aSphereisnotaCircle has one of the biggest hearts on here. Just found out that I KNOW HER!!!
Crumpet's the most fun and wild:)
I'm too tired right now to complete the list, but 97% of you are in my heart because you have all made a difference in my life. THANK YOU!!!

I'm going to see if I can find anything on "religiously mixed families" on Google. Don't you just hate the term "religiously divided?"

I'm an agnostic Wiccan. I believe in things as they are proven to me to exist, so faith is not there, just my own soul experience with spirituality. Everything is a metaphore and a mental trick to me. It's my path of choice and feels great.
My daughter is agnostic and is a very light practicing pagan. She and I put together our medicine pouches. She believes in it a little more than I do but practices it less than I.
My son is a light practicing Christian, Pentacostal to be exact. He's doing it mostly for social reasons and because there might be something to this religion for him.
We don't really talk about religion in our house except for me and my daughter a little discussing how peaceful and nice paganism is. We are very respectful of each other's beliefs or lack thereof.
